When Effort Stops Working

You are competent, trusted, and capable.

People come to you because you handle things.

You think ahead, take responsibility, and often carry more than your share. You perform well, but the internal cost has become harder to ignore.

You may want to communicate clearly and decisively without over-explaining or second-guessing. You may know that pushing through is no longer the answer, but slowing down can still feel risky.

When the demands keep growing, working harder is not the same as growing differently.

This Work Is For Leaders Who:

  • Carry significant responsibility in work, relationships, or leadership

  • Feel trusted by others but tired of holding so much

  • Replay conversations or decisions long after they are over

  • Over-function, over-explain, or over-prepare under pressure

  • Struggle to set boundaries without guilt

  • Want to communicate with more clarity and less internal debate

  • Are navigating complexity, transition, visibility, conflict, or change

  • Sense that their old way of succeeding is no longer sustainable

What Private Coaching Includes

Individual coaching gives you a confidential space to slow down, see the pattern clearly, and practice new ways of leading and responding.

Together, we identify the assumptions, fears, and protective commitments that may be driving over-functioning, rumination, avoidance, reactivity, or self-doubt.

The work includes:

  • A clear leadership or personal development goal

  • Identification of the hidden pattern that keeps repeating

  • Reflection between sessions

  • Small real-life experiments

  • Coaching conversations that build insight, capacity, and new practice

  • Support for applying the work in your actual leadership context

The goal is to understand yourself more clearly, and to lead and live with greater clarity, choice, and alignment with your values.

3 areas of change with Mary Printz Coaching

You develop the ability to lead from your values under pressure, so your responses feel intentional rather than reactive.

You begin to clearly see the

assumptions shaping how you carry responsibility, make decisions and communicate,  especially around approval, performance, and reliability.

New ways of responding become dependable, not forced and integrated into how you work, lead, relate, and live.

Client Reflection

As an engineer, I’m trained to solve complex systems, but I began to realize the issues I was facing weren’t technical. They were relational, and I was defaulting to logic in situations that required something different.

Through Mary’s process, I was able to see the invisible assumptions shaping how I showed up in challenging situations. I am more intentional, measured, and effective in navigating conflict and decision-making. My ability to lead teams is more energizing, creating a more positive team dynamic and elevating overall performance.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is individual coaching for?

Individual coaching is for high-responsibility leaders, including women leaders, healthcare leaders, physicians, surgeons, executives, entrepreneurs, educators, and professionals navigating complexity, pressure, conflict, transition, or change.

Is individual coaching only for women?

No. Mary works with both women and men in leadership roles. Many clients are women leaders, healthcare leaders, physicians, executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals carrying significant responsibility.

What kinds of issues do clients bring to individual coaching?

Clients often come when they are experiencing over-functioning, rumination, burnout, self-doubt, difficult conversations, boundary challenges, leadership pressure, decision fatigue, or recurring patterns they are ready to understand and shift.

Is this therapy?

No. This is coaching and developmental work. It focuses on leadership capacity, self-awareness, communication, decision-making, boundaries, emotional steadiness, and the hidden assumptions that shape how you respond under pressure.

How is adaptive development coaching different from regular coaching?

Adaptive development coaching looks beneath behaviour to the assumptions, inner commitments, and protective patterns that may be keeping a leader stuck. The goal is not just better strategy. The goal is increased internal capacity.

Are sessions virtual?

Yes. Mary is based in Alberta, Canada, and works virtually with clients across Alberta, Canada, North America, and beyond.

How do I begin?

The best place to begin is with a discovery call. This gives you a chance to name what you are navigating, ask questions, and explore whether individual coaching is the right fit.
